Fall is approaching, and it seems like pumpkin spice everything is out in the stores. You can’t pass a store without smelling a whiff of that spicy and comforting scent.
What do you think of when you smell this autumn tradition? Does it make you think of your childhood and your grandma’s pies baking in the oven? Maybe you feel calmer and a bit happier. Scents can be powerful gateways to memories and emotions.
That’s where aromatherapy comes in and it can be a key to promoting health and well-being. Aromatherapy, or essential oil therapy, uses oils to improve both physical and emotional health. Recently, this treatment is gaining more legitimacy in the medical community.
Human beings have been using aromatherapy for thousands of years. Ancient societies utilized fragrant plants in oils and balms. And various cultures have long understood the benefits of botanicals in their medicines.
Today aromatherapy is a technique that many people use to find balance in their lives. Essential oils can be beneficial with merely scents coming from a candle or a diffuser, or oils can be used topically and applied to certain points on the body.
When we breathe in the various scents of essential oils, the limbic system in our brain, which controls emotions, kicks in. The smells also activate our central nervous system. Different scents offer us various benefits. Some can boost our mood, reduce anxiety, help with relaxation, relieve pain, or help us concentrate.
I’ve worked with aromatherapy for years and use it with my clients to help them feel less stressed and increase their happiness. At my next breathwork retreat in Agua Dulce, CA, I will teach participants on the benefits of essential oils and how to insert them into their daily lives to reap the most benefits.
If you register for this transformational retreat before September 27th, you will save $200 with my early bird special. I hope you will join me! Register today!: https://journeystoheal.com/retreat/breathwork/
