We are all connected to something greater than ourselves; a universal consciousness that puts us in cosmic alignment with the universe as a whole.

Our final chakra, the 7th one, is the Crown chakra. Its location at the top of the head binds us to a higher state of consciousness and puts us in touch with the universe, allowing us to see outside of ourselves.

Because of its location, the Crown chakra is associated with the brain and nervous system, along with the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus. Energetically, the 7th chakra is connected to the root or 1st chakra, as they are both at the ends of the chakra system.

When your Crown chakra is in balance, you feel the power of a higher wisdom and consciousness. You are tapped into your inner wisdom and walk through your life with a clarity that makes you blissful.

A blockage in his chakra, however, will manifest as feeling cynical and disconnected from not only your higher self, but others as well. You will find it difficult to make decisions and your mind will remain closed and unable to open up to possibilities. You’ll lose direction and not be able to fulfill your personal or professional goals.

Physically, an imbalance in the Crown chakra may show up as thyroid or neurological disorders, migraines, depression or insomnia.

If you’re feeling any of these physical and emotional symptoms and think your 7th chakra is the culprit, here are a few ideas to get your Crown chakra back in balance:

  • Wear, hold, or place clear quartz, sugilite, or selenite crystals. These clear minerals help give you more clarity.
  • The Crown chakra is symbolized by the thousand-petaled lotus flower. Focus on that symbol when meditating or display it around your house.
  • The yoga poses that will help bring your 7th chakra into balance include: Headstand, Crane Pose, Shoulderstand. Incorporate these into your daily yoga routine.
  • Violet foods help aid in opening and balancing your Crown chakra. Add eggplant, passionfruit or red grapes to your diet. Ginger can help promote spiritual clarity, as well as herbal teas, especially peppermint.
