If you already keep a journal, you are probably aware of some of the benefits of writing down your thoughts. It’s a great therapeutic tool for getting out your feelings and frustrations. It’s always interesting to look back at your entries and see how you’ve changed or what was going on in your life then vs. now. What you may not know is you can use your journal to help you manifest the things you desire in your life. Here are some simple steps to starting a manifestation journal.
The first step is pretty easy. Decide what form of media you want to use for writing down your ideas (digital or a physical notebook) and come up with something you want to manifest. It may be a new job or new relationship, health, or more financial abundance. Perhaps you’ll be focused on multiple things, but the key is to be able to articulate what you desire.
Next, as part of coming up with what you desire to manifest, do some freewriting in your journal. It’s a journaling technique commonly used to start manifesting. Just allow whatever comes to your mind to spill out onto the page. Don’t restrict or regulate yourself. A blank page can be intimidating, so freewriting allows you to just get started writing something. In the process, you may become aware of things that were buried inside or you may tweak what you want to manifest in ways you hadn’t thought about before freewriting. Passions and interests can succumb to life stress, and this is a great way to dig through that to find your true intentions.
Did you know that disclosing these private things, things you haven’t revealed to anyone, is actually healthy for you? Research shows that when you dig up these deep-seated thoughts and feelings and release them, your well-being improves. This helps you move closer to your dreams because we let go of the past this way.
The next step in using a journal to manifest is actually writing down some goals. Establishing goals takes manifesting beyond the Law of Attraction into a more literal approach. One system you can use to start setting these goals is the SMART system. Doing this makes you much more likely to achieve what you’re intending to. It stands for Specific, Meaningful, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Write one of the goals you want to manifest in your journal (things like save $10,000 or start your new business) and use these criteria to spell it out:
Specific: Clarify exactly what you desire to manifest in simple terms.
Meaningful: What does it mean to you to achieve this specific goal?
Achievable: Is it possible to accomplish this goal?
Realistic: Are the resources available to reasonably manifest this goal?
Time-Bound: What is the target date to manifest this goal?
When you use a manifestation journal, it’s important to really hone in on your “why.” So, spend more pages of your journal digging into questions like:
Why do I really desire to manifest this thing (person, relationship, money, job, etc.)?
If you manifest this thing, what will it really give you in life?
How do you think you’ll feel when this thing is manifested? Do you see those feelings being long-lasting?
How will manifesting this thing snowball? Can you see it leading to manifesting other things you desire?
What you’re trying to do here is narrow in on what is really meaningful to you. You’re more likely to achieve any goal if it has a lot of meaning for you.
Next, you’ll want to work on your mindset. The more you believe your manifestation is possible, have feelings of optimism or a growth mindset (rather than a fixed mindset), the more likely you’ll manifest what you want or achieve your goals. Use your journal to write down what you have already manifested or new skills you’ve learned. Detail your experience and how you overcame challenges. What this does is teaches your brain that you are capable of manifesting and learning new things and that you can do it again.
Finally, surrender it and trust that it’s already yours.
As you can see, journaling is a handy tool you can use for getting what you desire out of life. It’s more than about having a positive attitude and focusing on what you want to draw to you. It’s a mixture of setting goals and having a clear vision of your hopes and dreams. But the most important step is just getting started, so grab your journal and start manifesting!
